To quote Howard Zinn:
“Democracy is in dissent. Democracy is in resistance. Democracy doesn’t come from the top, it comes from the bottom.”
People only try to bury the truth when they can’t face the facts.
Banning history books written from the perspective of the oppressed workers and slaughtered locals (aka “The People”) is a pathetic, paranoid attempt by ignorant, fear driven politicians to protect the corporate establishment from its greatest enemy: AN INFORMED ELECTORATE.
This is straight out of Orwell’s ‘1984’, and it’s as true today as it was then: Eradicate all proof of the truth and the people will believe the lie.
What these terrified protectors of the Power Elite don’t seem to know is that they can’t bury the truth anymore. Not only is it already out there, IT IS EVERYWHERE, and its easier than ever to find and share for all those who have “ears to hear” as Jesus said.
I hope this, and all the other pathetic power grabs by these sad political hacks, becomes another reason for the rest of us to dig deeper into the truth they are trying to hide and sends Zinn’s must read book (A People’s History of The United States) to the top of the bestseller list.
Especially now that the Multinational Corporate Oligarchs featured so prominently in Zinn’s writing have revealed themselves as the true power behind Trump and his Wall St. White House.
