{"id":90063,"date":"2013-03-17T12:26:50","date_gmt":"2013-03-17T19:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hempfarm.org\/blog\/?p=261"},"modified":"2013-03-17T12:26:50","modified_gmt":"2013-03-17T19:26:50","slug":"the-problem-isnt-the-biofuel-its-the-crop-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hempfarm.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/17\/the-problem-isnt-the-biofuel-its-the-crop-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The Problem Isn\u2019t The Biofuel, Its The Crop!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/03\/17\/us\/17ethanol.html?ref=us\" style=\"line-height: 21px;\">Ethanol\u2019s Days of Promise and Prosperity Are Fading<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Five years ago, rural America was giddy for ethanol.<\/p>\n<p>Backed by government subsidies and mandates, hundreds of ethanol plants rose among the golden fields of the Corn Belt, bringing jobs and business to small towns, providing farmers with a new market for their crops and generating billions of dollars in revenue for the producers of this <strong>corn-based fuel<\/strong> blend.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The only problem with ethanol is making it out of corn.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hempfarm.org\/Papers\/Fuel_of_the_future.html\" title='Henry Ford, Charles Kettering and \"The Fuel of the Future\"'>Henry Ford, Charles Kettering and \u201cThe Fuel of the Future\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times; font-size: medium; line-height: normal; text-align: -webkit-left; background-color: #ffffff;\">When Henry Ford told a New York Times reporter that ethyl alcohol was \u201cthe fuel of the future\u201d in 1925, he was expressing an opinion that was widely shared in the automotive industry. \u201cThe fuel of the future is going to come from fruit like that sumach out by the road, or from apples, weeds, awdust \u2014 almost anything,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented.
